Republican Liberty Caucus Wins Big in GOP Victory on Tuesday
Little Known Secret of the Republican Groundswell is Candidates that Cherish Individual Libertty and Limited Government
AUSTIN, TX — The Republican Liberty Caucus congratulates all of our endorsees who were elected to office around the nation on Tuesday. Republican candidates did very well, but those who share the RLC’s dedication to free enterprise, limited government and individual liberty did particularly well. Liberty issues brought out the grassroots and delivered wins for candidates who ran on them. As Dave Nalle, National RLC Chair put it, “Candidates that are looking out for the rights of their constituents and who want to protect them from out of control government have a very strong appeal which crosses party lines and is particularly well received by independent voters.”
In Virginia Ken Cuccinelli won the Republican primary for Attorney General in May with grassroots support from the Republican Liberty Caucus and RLC members were directly involved in donating and working on his successful campaign in the general election. “Ken Cuccinnelli understands why Republicans lost in 2006 and 2008, so he has consistently run to limit the size of government,” said Dave Nalle, National RLC Chairman.
Dan Halloran was elected to serve as one of the handful Republicans on the New York City Council, represending Queens. Dan is the Chairman of the New York RLC and campaigned hard against ruthless opposition to win
a solid six point victory.
The New Hampshire RLC, under the leadership of Jim Forsythe, helped elect three candidates. Phil Greazzo was elected Alderman in Manchester, Cameron DeJong was elected Selectman in Manchester and political newcomer Lynn Blankenbeker was elected as State Representative for Merrimack, bringing us to a total of 27 RLC endorsees
in the state legislature.
In New Jersey RLC endorsee Michael J. Doherty was elected to the State Senate and Michael P. Carroll was reelected to the State Assembly.
Several RLC members won elections without formal endorsements as well, including Kim Rafferty, who was elected to the Birmingham City Council in Alabama, and Shaun Kenney, who was elected as County Supervisor in Fluvanna County, Virginia. Additionally, Lisa Marie Coppoletta will be in a run-off for San Marcos City Council in Texas.
These new leaders join hundreds of RLC office-holders nationwide in working to promote free enterprise, smaller government and individual liberty in town councils, state houses and our Nation’s Capital. With these victories added to all the RLC candidates elected this Spring it has been a very successful off-year election for liberty-focused Republicans.
Congratulations to all of these winning candidates, our other endorsed candidates who were less successful, our grassroots activists and campaign workers, and all those who helped our endorsed candidates succeed.
