FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 1, 2009
JACKSONVILLE, FL — Over the weekend more than two hundred delegates from Republican Liberty Caucus chapters all over Florida met in Jacksonville, FL to elect a new board, attend training sessions and make plans for the coming year.
Speakers at the convention included Sirius Radio host Mike Church who gave the keynote address, State Senate candidate Dan Quiggle and Lawrence Reed of the Foundation for Economic Education. Training session topics included grassroots activism, campaign management and working with party leadership.
The convention also included a business meeting at which new officers were elected and the bylaws were revised. Will Pitts of the Northeast Florida Chapter is the new Chairman of the Florida RLC and his board includes Vice-Chairman Steven Talcott Smith, Secretary Sarah Lovett and Treasurer Michael Lanczki.
Representatives from other state chapters of the RLC were also at the convention to attend a national RLC business meeting. National RLC Chairman Dave Nalle was at the Florida convention. He observed that:
“Florida is setting a great example for the rest of the RLC to follow. They came together and pulled off a better convention than I ever would have expected from such a young organization. They’re also doing a great job supporting candidates and building grassroots support. I love their chapter development package. We plan to borrow heavily from them to help other new state chapters.”
